My name is Shams Shiraz. I live in Auckland, New Zealand.

My one year TKN assignment was to help new immigrants and the Jamat in general with preparing their curriculum vitae (CV). By profession I am an Information Technology (IT) Recruiter and I usually go through 100 to 150 CVs on any given day. Poorly presented CVs always make me sad and so when in August 2010, I received my TKN assignment it was like a dream come true.
"I have enjoyed each moment of my TKN assignment as it was in the field which I love and am passionate about. A couple of months back, a Jamati member in spite of having very good qualifications and experience, was finding it difficult to get a job.  I gave him some tips on how he could improve his CV and in a matter of a few days he got a job in one of the biggest organizations of the country!  My TKN assignment was for a year but even now, I like to take up the opportunity when I can to help any Jamati member with their CV.  The entire experience has given me immense satisfaction and I have truly felt complete as I have been able to give back to the community whatever I have derived from it.”
